Description/Job Summary

SUMMARY 

The Account Manager for our Metals Group is an excellent opportunity to provide transportation solutions to our customers in a variety of heavy industrial and metal mill environments. The Account Manager promotes and sells Signode’s high-performance packaging systems, while overseeing inventory levels at within some of our high-volume accounts.  The Account Manager needs to maintain strong relationships to ensure our customers’ needs are met. 


SCOPE 

This position is based in territory. Account size will range from $8 - 12 million in sales volume. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 


Essential Functions: 

  • Selling through a consultative and solutions-driven method to provide a comprehensive packaging system to our customers. 

  • Meet or exceed sales and profit goals by supporting current customers and offering new solutions. 

  • Gain new customers by building relationships and presenting the value of Signode. 

  • Develop, document, and present the value of One Signode to our direct end users. 

  • Build a personal brand that represents the Signode Values. 

  • Collaborate with other team members on account management, projects or department initiatives. 

  • Work closely with our Customer Service, Inside Sales, and Regional Sales Management Team to coordinate sales activity, follow up on quotes, develop and follow up on leads and close sales. 

  • Arrange an effective Time and Territory Management Plan that maximizes sales efficiency and allows the proper balance of sales calls on existing accounts and business development prospects. 

  • Plan visits to customers and consignment warehouses inline with customer agreements and needs. 

  • Contribute information to the sales and marketing strategy by sharing customer needs, market opportunities and competitive information. 

  • Participate in Training & Development opportunities in order to continually improve, upgrade performance, experience career development and advancement

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS 


Education: 

  • Associates Degree in business or related field, Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.


Experience / Abilities: 

  • Minimum 7 years outside sales experience in industrial sales. 

  • Experience in the Metals Industry is a plus. 

  • Strong mechanical aptitude is preferred. 

  • Valid Driver’s license and safe driving record. 

  • Must live within the assigned territory. 

  • Ability & willingness to travel via air and auto required, hotel stays overnight – up to 65%.


Interpersonal, Communications and Influencing skills

  • Excellent communication (verbal, technology, written).

  • Active listener with ability to ask questions that provide insight. 

  • Collaborative with other departments.

  • Action orientated and competitive to win in our space. 

  • Great presentation skills and ability to speak to large audiences. 


Business and Financial Acumen: 

  • Determine return on investment based on customer need. 

  • Demonstrate value of Signode brand, through our products and services. 

  • Time management to plan and prioritize activities. 


Computer Skills: 

  • High proficiency in MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Teams. 

  • Strong technology skills with social media knowledge to drive current customer and prospect engagement.
