Description/Job Summary

The role will focus on application and automation opportunities. The associate engineer will be responsible in supporting the new application projects and existing machines in the production area. Good communication is essential as this position will interact with many cross-functional team members. This is a very hands-on role, involving all phases of the integration, design, building, prototyping, field testing and basic training.


Participate in the planning, designing, and implementing the electrical/controls for integration with existing equipment for a full automation solution

  • Assist in developing PLC based control systems, with PLC ladder logic, including structured text or function block, using various computer programs including Rockwell and Siemens based software
  • Work with designing and developing HMI screens to interface with the main/remote control system
  • Work hand in hand with engineers and suppliers to implement cost savings on new and improved processing techniques or electrical/controls enhancements
  • Support manufacturing by assisting electronic technicians in troubleshooting and repairing electrical and electronic equipment
  • Work in conjunction with experienced engineers to adhere to best engineering practices in the use of electrical and electronic products in their projects
  • Participate in technical design reviews to ensure electrical design integrity is achieved
  • Join in the evaluation of new technologies in the electrical and electronic field for the purpose of incorporating these technologies in these manufacturing processes. Utilize these technologies to improve production processes, part quality, and safety
  • Assist in implementing new types of testing and calibrating instruments to aide electronic technicians and other engineers to troubleshoot and repair equipment
  • Co-evaluate machine vendor proposals for effective processor and programming requirements.
  • All other duties as required

    Required Experience

    Experience using CAD systems (AutoCAD Electrical preferred…etc.)

  • Some knowledge of state and national codes and their applications
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Some familiarity with motors, variable frequency drives, sensors and various motion controllers
  • Some experience in design, development and integration of highly automated product lines is a plus
  • Integrating robotics equipment is a plus
  • Rockwell Automation (Allen Bradley) Controls experience is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Tools
  • Must be legally. Proficiency in MS Office suite required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Basic knowledge of SharePoint
  • Exposure to high level programming language (i.e. C/C++, Java, Python)

    Required Education

    Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering from an accredited institution


    Up to 20% travel annually.

  • Face to face interactions with customers and their employees as our company representative
  • Immediate availability to travel in urgent situations a must
  • Able to deal with emergency or urgent situations on an “as needed” basis as they arise, especially those issues arising outside of regular business hours
