Description/Job Summary

Manage, organize and lead activities involving new product development. Highly technical leadership building our intellectual property portfolio. Be a master of new product development waste reduction. Develop engineering talent.


Manage and drive new product development projects efficiently, using modern lean methods, and finding ways to accelerate introduction while delivering on quality and innovation.

Find and relentlessly attack waste in product development. While the position is not one of project management (project manager(s) will report into this position), candidate must have project management experience and expertise.

Take on the responsibility and ownership of products by resolving problems quickly using sound judgment and solutions.

Analyze technology trends, human resources needs, and market demand to plan projects.  Stay current with national Design and Safety codes.

Confer frequently with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.

Foster and get results on building intellectual property through innovation and active patenting of new solutions.

Evaluate engineering talent and provide necessary training as well as team structure, continuously building capabilities.

Manage engineering change process to ensure that documentation is complete and current.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or higher (Masters or higher education strongly preferred) in Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering with at least five years of hands-on experience in Machine Design as well as five years’ experience in managing a similar department.
