SUMMARY

The Quality Inspection Technician is responsible for measuring the quality of parts and components produced by third party suppliers for our Glenview tools and equipment manufacturing operations.  This role will also support root cause and countermeasure investigations for defects encountered either during assembly operations or in the field.  Lastly, the role will support new product introduction and new supplier qualification activities through Signode’s Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).

Essential Functions Statement(s):

• Conduct inspections at First Article, In-Process, and Incoming per inspection plans.
• Identify nonconforming material and initiate nonconforming reports per established procedures.
• Communicate effectively with management, operators, and Engineers about quality related concerns.
• Utilize inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, micro-vu scope, scales, fixtures, gages, and microscopes to measure or inspect parts for compliance, CMM.
• Read and interpret blueprints and specifications
• Provide input on inspection methods related to continuous improvement initiatives related to the job.
• Assist quality, engineering and production personnel with investigations of part defects or any quality related issues.
• Complete accurate and legible reports on the in-process inspection plans.
• Organize work and storage areas for efficient workflow.
• Other duties may be assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: 

• High School Diploma or Associates Degree
  

Experience/abilities:

• 2+ years of experience inspecting high precision mechanical components.
• Broad experience using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, micro-vu scope, scales, fixtures, gages, and microscopes to measure or inspect parts for compliance.
• Ability to read and interpret Engineering blueprints and specifications
• Broad knowledge manufacturing processes necessary for mechanical components (stamping, forging, casting, machining, etc.) and electrical/electronic components
• Experience with automotive PPAP processes
• Ability to review and interpret First Article and In-Process inspection results
• Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Fluency in English mandatory

Computer skills:Strong MSOffice (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) skills.
