Signode, the Transit Packaging division of Crown Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CCK) has its global headquarters in Tampa, Florida. Signode is a global leader in transit-packaging with over 80 manufacturing facilities across 6 continents and over 7,000 employees worldwide. 

The Signode technology is a global team leveraging a hybrid operating model of traditional on-premise infrastructure and private and public cloud-based solutions. The Cloud Services team supports all sites, data centers, and global cloud environments. The System Engineer is responsible for acquiring and applying core system engineering and administration practices to maintain and improve our systems. The System Engineer also performs activities associated with various projects to meet the corporate, department, and team goals. Helps in design, implementation, performing operational activities, documenting the process, completing task assignments, and engaging with vendors to support the systems and project initiatives. 

We offer a competitive salary with a range of $105,000- $ 128,000 based on experience and skill set. This position is eligibile to participate in Signode's annual bonus program with a target of %10 base salary. A variety of benefits are also available, including medical, dental, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, as well as Signode’s 401(k) program.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Takes ownership of assigned systems per project assignment or designated operational areas and shows mastery as the subject matter expert (SME) 

  • Perform Tier 1 Application Support including: Buildout of IIS or Web Services, Application Management of SQL Servers and Databases, Understanding and support of Client Services for any Client Application process 

  • Ensures all systems in ownership are stable, secure, well maintained, and documented (Inventory, Backups, Monitoring, Patching) 

  • Assists in the development of standards around the products of ownership 

  • Actively participates  and owns changes in the change management process understanding the risk and impact of any changes made to our underlying customer base and communicating and coordinating as necessary 

  • Brings forth new ideas to simplify and standardize for better supportability and strategically align with the corporate goal of One Signode 

  • Assists in developing short, medium, and long-term plans to achieve strategic objectives 

  • Ensures department objectives are met by regularly interacting across functional areas, including senior management or executives as needed 

  • Administers and optimizes hosts and servers to ensure high availability and appropriate resource management 

  • Takes care to standardize and automate processes and monitoring using scripting technology 

  • Installs and configures operating systems, software, and hardware components and documents the design, maintenance, and support procedures for routine tasks to leverage IT support staff 

  • Manages and monitors infrastructure and system installations, including configurations, testing, and maintenance 

  • Conducts root-cause analysis for service interruptions and establishes preventive measures 

  • Creates reports and documentation outlining findings and solutions 

  • Implements and maintains backups, security, and redundancy strategies 

  • Enables faster and more intelligent business processes and implements analytics where it renders meaningful 

  • Accountable for implementing SOX compliant changes following the change management process defined to provide governance of Infrastructure Operations 

  • Participates in SOX audits, working closely with various supporting departments 

  • Adheres to standards, best practices, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) between IT and the Business Infrastructure Services 

  • Acts responsibly in the management of operational costs 

  • Remains current on industry trends and strategic development in technology to create revenue, reduce costs or take advantage of new business opportunities 


Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of proven mastery and experience in hands-on IT engineering technology role 

  • 5+ years experience and mastery in Active Directory Services (DNS, Sites and Services, DFS Namespace, Schema, AD Attributes, Domain Trusts, Group Policy, FSMO Roles, DHCP, etc) 

  • 1 to 3 years of experience with Azure AD a strong plus (AD Connect and Sync Services, Account Roles, Group Provisioning, etc) 

  • Utilizes ITIL and ISO best practices 

  • Working knowledge and experience managing hybrid cloud environments (on-premises/off-premises/private & public clouds) - Azure experience a strong plus 

  • DevOps, orchestration, automation, or digitalization a strong plus 

  • Proven database administration skills 

  • 5+ years of experience with server and system management, virtualization, VPN, security, backups, and system recovery showing clear mastery in these areas. 

  • Proven ability to successfully participate on a globally diverse team and achieve collective goals and objectives 

  • Listening, drawing out key concepts, and articulating advanced technical and non-technical ideas with ease (both written and oral formats) to customers, peers, and management at several levels and across the organization with minimal oversight 

  • Experience in selecting and managing outside vendors who serve outsourced roles in the department 

  • Experience with remote management of servers, server consolidation, migration of legacy Window server environments, deployment of new servers in Azure/Datacenter, system, and resource optimization 

  • Familiar with application support, application upgrades, and end-user support 

  • Proven ability to follow Enterprise Architecture principles and best practices 

  • Shows working knowledge of TCP/IP Networks and OSI model 

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Other languages are a plus in our global company 

  • Certifications in one or more areas of IT system administration (MCSE, VMware Certified Profesional, Microsoft Certified Azure Fundementals, M365 Enterprise Administrator Expert, etc)
