Description/Job Summary
SUMMARY
The Catcher performs duties to inspect and pack product from the production lines. The Catcher is responsible for maintaining housekeeping for the area and to follow all safety rules. This position reports to the Production Supervisor but can also take direction from the QC Operator or Team Leader assigned to the area.

Essential Functions:
- Packing product that meets specific dimensional criteria from the production lines onto pallets and within established productivity guidelines.
- Periodically inspects the product using a tape measure and dial caliper.
- Completes appropriate paperwork for production and quality purposes.
- Communicates with other production operators regarding order status, construction and quality.
- Assists other Catchers by strapping skids and moving empty/completed skids from work area using pallet jacks.
- Assist the Roll Operator while in an upset condition or equipment is not in operation.
- Follows all safety rules and wears required personal protective equipment.
- Maintains housekeeping in the area by moving scrap material to baler and sweeping and removing debris.
- Physical demand includes standing 100% of the time. Continuously pick up product that weighs up to 30 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds and load on pallet. Activity requires lifting, twisting, stooping and bending.
- Other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education / Training:
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- On-the-job training to learn to safely operate and maintain equipment assigned.
- Forklift training may be required.
- Safety training through company required.
Experience / Abilities:
- Prior manufacturing experience a plus.
- Ability to use basic tools and inspection devices such as calipers and tape measure.
- Must be able to make necessary adjustments and minor repairs.
- Effective communication, include speaking, writing, active listening and taking instruction.
- Good eye and hand coordination skills.
